Reconditioned Turbochargers in Ireland
A reconditioned turbocharger is the cost-effective way to fix turbo failure without the price of a new OE unit. Driveshaft Ireland supplies remanufactured, VSR-balanced exchange turbos for a wide range of vehicles, Irish-owned, 30+ years, nationwide.
A reconditioned (remanufactured) turbocharger is a failed turbo rebuilt with new core components, bearings, seals, and a balanced centre cartridge (CHRA), then VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) balanced and tested to specification. Driveshaft Ireland supplies reconditioned turbos on an exchange basis, warranted and delivered nationwide, for a substantial saving against a new OE turbocharger.
What the service covers
When a turbo fails, loss of power, whistling, blue smoke, warning light, a full new unit from the main dealer is often the most expensive option. A properly remanufactured turbo restores performance for far less, and when it is VSR-balanced and function-tested, it does the job like new.
Why reconditioned or remanufactured?
A properly remanufactured turbo restores performance for far less, and when it is VSR-balanced and function-tested, it does the job like new.

Signs of a failing turbo
Loss of power
Noticeable loss of power or slow acceleration.
Whistling noise
A whistling or siren-like noise from the engine bay.
Blue or grey smoke
Blue/grey smoke from the exhaust (oil burning).
Warning light
The engine management or boost warning light.
Oil consumption
Excessive oil consumption.
For the full diagnostic picture including what causes turbos to fail see Turbo failure symptoms and what causes them. Fitting a new turbo without fixing the cause (oil supply, blocked breather) can destroy it again, so diagnosis matters.
Fix the cause, not just the turbo
Most turbo failures are secondary
Most turbo failures are secondary caused by oil starvation, oil contamination, a blocked breather or ingested debris.
Prevent repeat failure
If the underlying cause is not addressed, a replacement turbo can fail the same way.
Help the new unit last
We advise on the checks to carry out before fitting so your new unit lasts.
How we price it
We do not quote a flat price because it depends on your exact vehicle; most parts are supplied on an exchange basis (your old unit comes back to us), which keeps the cost down.
The price depends on the make, model and specification, whether it is a straight exchange or a repair of your own unit, and the parts involved. Current prices for stocked units are shown on the product pages.
Send us your make, model and reg (or the part number) for a firm price, availability and warranty, call (01) 450 1905.
